The Lamp – written at a different time of life, and yet, within “the race marked out for us”…

Open doors to new roads

Pristine paths unknown

But Thy Word is a Lamp to my feet.

Time and circumstances change

Yet constant is the One

Who sets my feet on solid ground.

Childhood, a memory

Sweet are the remembrances

Of faithful ones who shared truth.

Each new age a challenge

To stand firm in conviction

Or falter and fail.

Learning to stand alone

Yet, not alone, never alone

Upheld by His unseen hand.

Freedom to choose

Options directed by knowledge and wisdom

From the Lamp or the cacophony of confusion.

Freedom in choices

To be who I was created to be

As He completes the work He began in me.

Yet, growing –

Choices and challenges yet to be made

And other avenues woven in without my consent.

In light of the Lamp –

Open doors to new roads

Pristine paths to roads less straight

Yet no less a passage

For becoming a woman of the Lamp.

“‘Your word is a lamp to my feet

Your word is a light to my path.’

When I am fearfully weak,

Your Word brings me back.“

Psalm 119:105 (within song, “Your Word” by Mike and Allie Murphy, Sing Kairos)
